Spiritual Counseling suited for healing wounds?

Sceintists that have shaped thinking?

For whom
is my Spiritual Counseling well suited?

1. People who want something deeper than psychotherapy or career counseling.

2. People facing life changes--divorce or break-ups; graduation; career changes;
retirement; a death in your life or your own health crisis-- who are asking:
"What is the purpose of my life?"  "What can I learn from this challenge?"
     3. People who want to live a more purpose driven life or a more spiritually aligned life
but don't know how to get there.
     4. Intelligent, inquisitive, grounded, delightful people. Is that you?

How is my Spiritual Counseling different from psychotherapeutic counseling?
    1. More holistic; less mental.  More heart & soul.
    2. More penetrating.
    3. Less emphasis on your past.
Looks at how what you think & do presently shapes your future.
    4. More hopeful and empowering.
Sees you as a co-creator of your continually unfolding life.
    5. Less emphasis on pain.
More on what you learn from challenging experiences.

How is Spiritual Life Coaching different from Life Coaching?

    1. More emphasis on spiritual ideals:
        the purposeful, positive intentions
against which you measure your thoughts and words each day.
    2. More on how we live than on what we do.
More devoted to how you bring the Divine into your life.

How is Spiritual Counseling similar to Life Coaching?

 1. Both encourage you to make more positive choices in your life.
      2. Both empower you and put you in "the driver's seat."

How has Spiritual Counseling become credible & mainstream?

   1.  Spiritual Counseling is becoming more mainstream
thanks to Oprah, Shirley MacLaine & many others.
(Ronald Reagan was said to consult an astrologer regularly!)
    2. Psychiatrists who have stumbled on past lives (e.g. Brian Weiss MD)
and communicate "with the other side" are raising the bar.
    3. Metaphysics & physics have always grown hand-in-hand.
Isaac Newton, Kepler & Tycho Brahe were both astronomers & astrologers.
Our exploration of inner & outer space are inter-twined.

What innate skills do I bring?

     1. I was born intuitive and am just beginning to claim it.
     2. For years, when I would ask a client a question in a therapy
session, I would "hear" an answer inside myself.
    3. I see how the puzzle pieces fit.
I would say to dubious male clients,
"Same way that you can open the hood of your car
and see what needs fixing, I can see psychological workings ."
    4. I am extremely global.
Wondering how your contribute to planetary consciousness?
I am unusually qualified to help.
See the work that I have done as Director
of NGOabroad: International Careers & Volunteering.

5.  I believe our Spirituality is reflected
in our ability to to respond to humanity's  challenges.

  6.  I am fascinated by Life Purpose.
I believe that every person on Earth has a unique part to play.
I have a nose for helping you figure out what your contribution is.

What learned skills or techniques do I use?

    1.  I help you craft and live your Spiritual Ideal,  how you want to act and interact,
thus creating the chalice for your divinity to grow.
       2. Like a Life Coach, we evaluate your life:
what aspects you want to jettison, what parts you want to grow.
       3.  Examine the thought-forms that you are now encountering.
---the sub-conscious pictures or beliefs that shape events.
       4.  I am well versed in astrology, the blueprint of your soul.

What is my training?
       1. I have a Master's in Social Work (MSW).
I have over 25 years of counseling experience.
Although Social Work provided a great foundation,
I am heading in entirely new directions.
       2. Extensive study of world cultures & world religions.
       3. 30 years daily meditation and prayer to enliven spirit.

How do I approach Spiritual Coaching?

       1. Like Lifecoaches, you & I define what you want to get out of our work together.
       2. I contribute more ideas & insights than many Life Coaches.
       3. Some Life Coaches see their role as your cheer leader.  I see my role as a sports coach:
I comment on how small changes in  your behavior or attitudes will yield major results.
       4. I was taught  coaching at the School of Social Work which pre-dates Coach U et al.

How do I approach Spiritual Counseling?
     1. In a very down-to-earth way.

I take the mumbo-jumbo out of spiritual counseling.

2. Because I am so right-brained...I see the Big Picture,
I must get the entire "lay of the land" at the outset.
Thus I do a very comprehensive intake.

How can Spiritual Life Coaching benefit you?

  1. My forte is helping you discover and align with your Life Purpose.

2. Gently lift you out of stuck-ness.
     3. Help you tap into parts of yourself
         that will infuse more love
into daily life & your relationships.
     4. People hunger for something more.
1/3rd of America has turned to Alternative Medicine
because conventional medicine did not provide what they sought.
Alternative or spiritual healing has grown up where conventional cures have fallen short.

Is phone counseling effective?

1. For 95% of the population,
phone is a great way to conduct spiritual counseling.
     2. Most peope appreciate the convenience.
     3. I have experience as phone counselor.
As a social work intern, I worked at Seattle Crisis Clinic.
     4. My boss asked that we be able to assess very subtle things over the phone:
         e.g. did the caller ingest 2 beers & a barb? or 2 barbs & a beer?
     5. Phone counseling is not well suited to help with psychological concerns or emotional turmoil.
Why? It is important that the counselor see you face-to-face to catch all the nuances.

So what do you get from the fee that you pay me?

  1. People get tremendous "bang for their buck."
Because I see the picture quickly, have these intuitive
insights and have this natural intensity,
people get great mileage out of each session.        .
    2. One of my dearest colleagues once described my style as
        "focused but friendly."
    3. We will work by phone or Skype.
    4. I charge $80/50 minutes
(This "50 minute hour " is how conventional counselors do it
so the  counselor has time to get ready for the next appointment.)

5. Like at your doctor's or dentist's, you are charged 1/2 or $40
if they have not given 24 hours notice for a cancellation.
    6. $80/50 minutes is frugal, much less expensive than what you find in the community.

Meant to be affordable. As one unemployed client recently said,
"I can not afford to not afford your service. You have helped me immensely."
     7. You can save $ by committing and paying ahead for a series of sessions.
E.g.  To commit to a series of 6 sessions costs $450 rather than $480.

How can you engage my services?

    1.  Please copy and paste the following questions in the body of an email,
briefly answer them, paste your resume at bottom and email to 1enlivenedspirit@gmail.com

      2. Questions:

-- What is your current life situation?
(e.g. "divorcing"...or "career change" or "Want more meaning in my life.")
          -- Brief bio--your background, strengths & interests
-- What do you seek from Spiritual Counseling or Spiritual Life Coaching?
-- Previous Coaching or Counseling? What worked? What didn't?
-- How can I reach you? (email, phone &/or Skype)
-- When can I reach you?

I will do my best to call you back in the windows of time that you have given.
-- Send any other info that you think important, e.g link to your artistic website.

     3. Please "pop in by email" vs call,
because most of the time I am on the phone doing sessions.

This system saves you from having to pay for a receptionist
that says says, "I am sorry, she is with a client."
     4. You pre-pay for your session the day before (or even before that!)
         via the Paypal buttons below.
     5. At the end of the 1st intake session
(which is 1-1/2 hours so costs $120)
         we will discuss goals; plan of action;
how long you want to commit for; budget plan.
         Some people choose to pay per session;
others commit ahead for a series of sessions to save costs
     6. At the end of the session, we schedule for the next session.

Spiritual Counseling is not suited for healing wounds.

People who have experienced physical or sexual abuse or severe traumas;
are diagnosed with dissociative, personality disorder or any psychiatric disorder;
or who are suicidal or homicidal are better helped by a psychotherapist.

Emotional and psychological problems are better addressed
with a local psychotherapist or psychiatrist in in-person counseling.

Who are the scientists who have shaped this new way of thinking & mine?
I read a rant online the other day which said that people who believe in New Thought are ignorant of science.
My response: It is scientists that have laid the groundwork!

1. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross MD and Frank Moody MD who pioneered research on life after death.
    2. Brian Weiss MD who stumbled on past lives when he hypnotized people.
    3. Larry Dorsey MD who started a skeptic investigating the power of prayer & ate crow.
    4. Oncologist Carl Simonton MD who encourage cancer patients to visualize cancer cells being
eaten by white polar bears (white blood cells).  Simonton's technique is taught in many
medical complements other parts of treatment. (Thus the term "complementary medicine".)
    5. Humberto Maturana PhD & Francisco Varela PhD, Chilean biologists, who assert that

human cognition & consciousness can only be understood in terms of the enactive structures
in which they arise...a scientific way of saying all things are inter-connected.
    6. Biologist Rupert Sheldrake's morphogenetic fields. (Read about; it is complex to explain.)
My version: biological structures have memory of past behavior around which cells organize.
    7. Greek evolutionary biologist Elisabet Sahtouris PhD who sees Earth as a living organism.
    8. Atmospheric scientist James Lovelock PhD who also saw Earth as a living organism, Gaia.
    9. Astro-physist Robert Gilman who started InContext magazine.
  10. Harvard astro-physicist Eric Chaisson: interdisciplinary science of cosmic evolution.

Note: I use Spiritual Coaching, Spiritual Counseling and Spiritual Life Coaching interchangeably;
just a slight difference in emphasis determined by your needs.
